Why are planets rotation axis (approximately) orthogonal to their sun. (Since planets like Uranus are seen as "wierd")

I was talking to a plastic engineer and they said that plastic has the smallest carbon footprint, burning it is not bad if done correctly and it's stigma exists only because of the worlds ineptitude of recycling it/getting rid of it correctly. Now there was more to it but how accurate is that?
