I cannot grasp the concept of the 4th dimension can someone explain the concept of dimensions higher than 3 in simple terms?

If there is more dark matter in the universe than the matter we live in, could that mean that there is other universes and forms of life in dark matter? Could there also be different laws of physics in dark matter? Is it possible that space and time is experienced differently in dark matter?
