How was the AK rifle (type 1-3, AKM) supposed to be fired according to Soviet doctrines in the 50's and 60's? Was it really supposed to be regularly used in a full auto capacity or was semi-auto preferred with full auto only for specific situations?

What lead to the U.S. Marines being so prominent in protecting U.S. government buildings and members (embassies, the presidents inauguration and helicopter, ect.). Why doesn't the army handle these duties instead?

In the new FPS game "Rising Storm 2" the PAVN forces of North Vietnam are able to use the East German M56 helmet among other gear. Did the PAVN really use gear from East Germany during the Vietnam war? What kind of gear would you typically see them equipped with and did East Germany export gear?

Where did all the upgraded Soviet T-55 tanks (AM, AMV) end up? With their ability to launch anti-tank guided missiles you'd think they would be more popular as cheap tank killers yet most modern combat footage of the T-55 shows older models.
