My shower neck(image 1) and my recently bought shower head (image 2) aren’t compatible when I tried to twist the head into the neck. The neck is way too long compared to how short the hole in the shower head is. Anything I can buy to make them connect?

I live in Florida and the hard water here is really negatively impacting my skin. Is there any water filter I can buy below $50 that can fit on my type of faucet?
