How do they know that the stuff your drink (that your body doesn’t need) comes out in urine, and the stuff you eat (that your body doesn’t need) comes out in feces?

We all know that with a straw in a glass of water, if you seal the top of the straw with your finger and pull the straw out of the glass, the water will not fall. However, I tried doing this with hot chocolate and it holds for a moment and then falls. Why?

Would it be more efficient to invest time and read watch into creating nanobots normally, or into some sort of shrinking technology to simply shrink a current robot?
