TIL: There was a study on in China that explores why the 317 million female gamers there made otome (romance) games popular. The results show it was due to strong parasocial interactions led to more romantic feelings towards the fictional characters among under 30 yo females.

TIL: The Trojan Ballistics Suit of Armor was a planned exoskeleton suit inspired by the MJOLNIR armor from the Halo series for Canadian soldiers featured on the Discovery Channel. Features included wrist sheaths and in suit morphine injections. The inventor died in a car crash before he finished it.

TIL: Rufus Choate was one of the greatest American lawyer of the 1800s, arguing over a thousand cases and pioneered the method of arousing jury sympathy. One of his famous cases is when he convinced a jury that the accused cut the throat of his lover while sleepwalking and was therefore not guilty.

TIL: George Bredig escaped the Nazi regime when Princeton offered him a job in 1940. Scientists and professors who did not swear an oath to the regime were fired. He managed to save his research and made significant contributions to electro chemistry. The Nazis lost 26% of their university chemists.
