IMO, "Only Yesterday" has easily one of the best endings for a Ghibli film ever and one of fhe best in any animated film in general. I honestly feel Isao Takahata more consistently than Miyazaki always ended his movies in a very emotional matter that neatly reflects on the themes of the story.
