[WP] Being trapped in a video game sounds like a gamer's dream, if they get to be an overpowered RPG hero. It's less fun when you wake up and find yourself as an expendable worker unit in an RTS.

[WP] There is a mental disorder that creates realistic hallucinations of powers, and if someone explains their power in enough detail, you can hallucinate other people's power as well. To the outside world, super battles look like a bunch of people LARPing, so civilians just leave it alone.
