Why was a Palestinian state not established in the aftermath of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War? This exact question was asked a nearly month ago, but all responses to the original post were evidently deemed inadequate & removed. Can a qualified historian please attempt to answer this question?

Thanks to a recent post, I just learned that Catharism is apparently a subject of immense controversy and debate among medieval historians. Naturally, I wondered: are there similar disputes among historians of other periods as well? If so, what are these about and why are they so contentious?

To what degree, if any, did Roman provinces vary in their relative costs of living? For instance, was living in Gaul any more or less expensive than living in North Africa or Anatolia? How do we know?

Greeks once had a strong presence in the region of modern-day Turkey for thousands of years, and even as late as 1914 their population was estimated at nearly 2 million. Presently, however, potentially as few as only 3,000 Greeks remain in all of Turkey today. What happened?
