A novel I read some years back claimed that during the Russian Occupation of Afghanistan a select group of Islamist militants formed indoctrination camps and edited the Quran to suit a Radical agenda thus setting the stage for our modern terrorism crisis....

When depicting two sword combatants running at each other to engage, Cinema often shows them running with their sword out front, sheathed until the split second before contact. Is there any evidence that this practice was normal and if so what advantage did it provide?
