Why did Socialist Hungary (1949–1989) have Corvinus Matthias be praised in its textbooks as a great kind and ruler? Wouldn't the idea of kings be incompatible with socialist ideology?

I'm an English merchant sailing to the West Indes during the 17th century. It is peacetime with Spain, but tensions are high. A storm throws me off course, leading me to south america. The closest port is flying the spanish flag - could I make port and resupply, or must I risk it to safe harbour?
