How "English" (saxon) or Danish was eastern Mercia (the five boroughs) during the period of 1030-1080? Mercia had Saxon Christian Earls, but the area must undoubtedly have been heavily danish, especially in the boroughs. I am trying to understand the cultural geography of Mercia in this time period
