I am interested in sea-faring Native American nations on the East coast of the Americas. I found an ask on this sub-reddit's faqs about watercraft in the pre-Colombian Americas, but it only mentions examples from the west coast. There must have been seafaring nations on the east coast?

One of the recurring gags in Terry Pratchett's work is the idea that veterinarians had much higher pressure placed on them to keep patients alive than medical practitioners working on humans. Is this true? And if it is true, how did the training of vets differ from that of medical docs?

I have read that military officers in the 18th century had servants (batmen) on campaign who amongst other things took care of their uniforms. Did officer cadets also have servants while they were undergoing their training or were they expected to take care of their own belongings?
