Did the Babylonians really have the beards that are depicted on walls and statues or were they idealized or 'fake' (i.e. made out of animal hair or sth.)?

If the Native American tribes of the Great Plains would have somehow banded together could they have stood against the Europeans (Americans), or at least have established a semi-autonomous country?
