Why isn't Hawking Radiation proportional to the surface area of the black hole? It seems like surface area would lead to more virtual particle pairs being separated and more radiation.

If modern circuits and chips are so small, why don't the break more easily (i.e. dropping your phone). Also, what happens when they do break, does losing one branch break the entire circuit?
