How do spacecraft know where they are if conventional GPS doesn’t work? For example, could a spacecraft land in a predetermined point in mars accurately? How?

I was swabbed for a lab virus test 15 days ago and counting: Is it possible for the virus to just die in the tube while waiting to be tested? Or can it still be traced after a long time?
