I'm aware that bees produce honey and aphids make honeydew. Are there other examples of other insects or other animals turning raw ingredients (like nectar or sap) into some other substance? Is there an overarching name for what these products are called?

It is 4 AM on September 14th, 2018, approximately 2.5 hours before sunrise in New York City. My window is facing west. I can see an unusually bright light stretching across the horizon that almost appears like a sunrise. What is causing this light?

When our bodies have too much of a certain vitamin, our kidneys filter it into our urine. Why can't we do this with excess sugars and fats instead of becoming unhealthily obese?
