How do particle accelerators isolate certain particles if particles are unavoidably everywhere? Aren't there many unaccounted for particles in the way of observation?

Since humans are extremely adaptable, if one consistently sleeps 4 - 5 hours a day, can't their body adapt and make up for the lack of time by going into a deeper sleep quicker?
