So when people/countries try to plant a large number of trees to combat climate change, does that cause other plants and animals to thrive in that ecosystem?

The phenomenon of convergent evolution is incredibly interesting to me. How likely is it that on a theoretical alien planet similar to Earth, that we would see lifeforms that would closely resemble that which have existed on Earth?
