After the European rediscovery of the Americas towards the end of the 15th century, how long did people take to accept the fact that there was a whole other land mass across the Atlantic? Surely, the 16th century must've had its conspiracy theorists too.

Syrian Social Nationalist Party representative Tarek Ahmad said, "Syria is just one front in a Third World War...". But then won't the same argument hold true for the Seven Years War which was much larger in scale? Then Syria would be considered as WW4 & the Seven Years War would be WW1.
