I always hear about new things being discovered that "help fight cancer" or "may hold cure to cancer" but then that's the last I hear of them. Are we on the verge of beating cancer or are these "discoveries" over-hyped?

Why does liquid seem so rare in the universe? Every object of any interest seems to be either gaseous (clouds, stars, nebulae etc.) or solid (planets). Why are there no liquid points of interest?

How does science differentiate between two species when species A evolved from species B? At what point does said species stop being one thing and start being another thing in the eyes of science?
