The Franco-Ottoman alliance was often perceived as scandalous by other European powers and often internally within France. Was there a standard 'Islamic' rebuttal to this otherwise non-ideological alliance within and outside of the Empire?

19th century France had a rather turbulent political history. As a individual in one of France's colonies, how am I meant to feel about the constant regime change? Were there ever any major monarchist or republican groups overseas that posed significant threat to a then-opposite French regime?
