Where did the term "Abyssinia" come from? Is it older than the name "Ethiopia" or did it appear after? What did the Medieval Arab and European worlds call those lands?

Romania has the same borders as the Dacian Kingdom. Are Romanians genetically descended from Dacians? Is Romanian the closest language/ethnicity to the Dacians? If so, why did the Wallachians, Moldavians, & Transylvanians create a new "Romanian" identity instead of revitalizing the Dacian identity?

Why haven't the islands of Sardinia/Corsica in ancient history been the seat of a powerful seafaring empire or a large merchant republic, etc? They're located right in the middle of the Mediterranean with easy access to everything but also should easy to defend with a navy.
