As humans, supply our bodies with energy in the form of food, and many of us today have access to as much food as we want. Why, then, does the human body still increase in entropy and eventually break down? Why can’t we take in enough energy to reverse or halt the aging process?

I understand that light is diffracted by water, glass, etc. because light travels slower through those materials. The part I don't understand is, why does changing the speed of light change its direction?

Does the motion of the Earth through space alter the trajectory of light emitted on Earth? For sensitive applications, do we have to account for the Earth's movement when calculating how light will travel?

What are the relative proportions of bases (A,T,G,C) in DNA, and how constant are those relative proportions from person to person? From species to species?
