Is a uterus inherently able to stretch to baby size, or does it only have that ability in the presence of pregnancy hormones or some sort of growth that takes place during pregnancy?

Me and my friend both thought the melting point of gold was around 400 centigrade. Turns out it’s much higher but it felt like there was a reason we thought 400 C was a significant number, does anyone know why?
