Was bubonic plague ever an issue in the America’s when it was at its height in Europe, either for natives or for developing cities in the 18th/19th century? Why/why not? There doesn’t seem to be much info about this besides an SF outbreak 1900-1907.

I’m reading about UN peacekeeping, and a blurb about the UN being “revitalized” by the end of the Cold War stuck with me. Was the UN neutered/set aside during the Cold War because of the the tensions that erupted between member states? Why wasn’t it more involved?

At what point did introduction to a stranger for a European noble stop being one of a full title? Were there less formal names one could use that were acceptable? Did it depend on the class of the stranger?
