Why can I instinctively hum/whistle/sing a song, but it takes me longer to figure it out on a musical instrument?

Is there any sound to use as an alarm that I either won't grow to hate or facilitate me waking up? Does there exist any sound that would scientifically be the best thing to hear first in the morning?
