Ireland and England are roughly on the same latitude, have roughly the same weather, roughly the same terrain, etc. Why did the UK become a powerhouse and Ireland just stayed relatively irrelevant when it comes to empire etc?

My mom is a tour guide in Ireland and while studying had a vague recollection that during the Irish plantations King Henry VIII held a campaign wherein he gave loyal English settlers £10 each to settle and build a house in Ireland. My mom wants to find out if this is true? Thanks to any replies! :)

Hitlers view for more living space was almost achieved, but as everyone knows he failed. While he was occupying eastern territory, did he immediately start colonizing it with Germans? Or did he want to hold off until after the war?

During WW2, Wehrmacht soldiers were pushing into Soviet land during operation Barbarossa. Along, they were singing songs like Vorwärts nach Osten (Onwards to the East** I think). Ultimately, Hitlers plan was to annex everything west of the Ural mountains. Did they know they were fighting for that?
