How does a damaged brain know to prioritise the use of language skills over visuospatial ones? I've heard of neuroplasticity but how does the brain recognise that needs to happen? Is there some protein that carries the message?

If I had enough biochemical bonds to kick-start the Krebs cycle & Aerobic respiration (internal energy) without the need for external 'immediate' energy sources (e.g. Isotonic drinks) yet I still drank said drink during exercise. Which form of energy would be used up first, the internal or external?
