News articles today are stating that Covid vaccine candidates are rapidly approaching the start of their 6 month 'safety and effectiveness' testing phase. What can be concluded within 6 short months that determines a vaccine is okay to mass administer without long term negative side effects?

Is it still suggested that people get a Covid vaccine administered yearly? If so, a year since the first shot or since the last booster? The info out there doesn't seem concrete even with many already past their 1 year, first shot, 'anniversary'.
