I got a old planner from pawnshop. When I sending wood into it, the heading and tailing part are always not flat with middle part. Is that normal?

I got a old planner from friend. And when sending the wood into planner, it’s first part (around 2 inches) and tail part has not flat as middle part. Is that normal?	1
