[WP] They took no notice of us when we ventured beyond our solar system. They didn't ignore us, they just weren't in especial awe. We were normal. Average. No different than the rest of the species out there. Humanity had to learn to deal with its worst possible fear: mediocrity.

[WP] First contact went well. We had a similar biology, and communication wasn't that difficult. It was when the astronomers got involved that we figured out why: the aliens originally evolved on Earth millions of years ago. In fact, all known aliens species did.
