In the wake of Americans’ tainted opinion of Britain following the Revolution, were there ever any serious movements to change things such as state or city names, such as Georgia or Charleston, that were related to British monarchs or otherwise had British influence?

I just read that African culture blended with Christianity during slavery in America, leading to the idea of reuniting with ancestors in heaven. This idea is prevalent in our society today. Did white Christians at the time have a different idea of heaven? If so, how did they blend?
