I just learned about the concept of maximum heart rate. What happens if you exceed this maximum heart rate while exercising one time? What happens if it is exceeded regularly?

Why does an excess of sodium inside a cell (relative to the surroundings) cause the cell to die, but an excess of potassium relative to the surroundings does not cause the cell to die?

Why is it that one healthy 35 year old might contract COVID-19 and not show symptoms, whereas another might contract it and die? Why the huge variability in severity? Are any other diseases like that?
