Is there a name for the period from Bach to Shostakovich where musical composition was in a state of sophistication not seen before or (arguably) since?

How does modern French history view the Angevin Empire and its Kings? Are they seen as temporary English interlopers or accepted as French-Anglo Kings (or Anglo-French Kings)? Especially as Richard the Lionheart was more French than English to my understanding.
