On Feb 23, 1981, there was a fascist coup d'etat attempt in Spain that was condemned by most of NATO, except for the US. Given the rise in popularity of the Spanish Communist Party at the time, was Reagan's staunch anticommunism what led his administration to refuse to condemn the failed coup?
