[WP] Christian Old Testament Literalists got one thing right: Humanity, as it turns out, is the only spacefaring species in the galaxy that HAS to work to make things work. Everyone else got to space easy and early because things just come naturally. Nobody knows if they should pity us or avoid us.

[WP] Throughout known space, there are a few optimal shapes. Sleek, for water. Wings, for the air. Trees, for plants. Crabs. Among sentients, the "human" body&mind shape is rare to the point of being a novelty, but self awareness, social groups, and cross-species cooperation are practically required
