The term "grounded" would seem to originate from military aviation, presumably during WW2 due to the number of pilots trained during this period. Did grounding exist as a disciplinary technique prior to this? If so, what was it called, and why did the terminology change?

How close was the Roman poet Ovid to the family of emperor Augustus? Some theories regarding his exile imply that he knew of (or participated in) their sexual improprieties, while others suggest it was related to his publication of the Ars Amatoria. Did Ovid have a personal relationship with them?
