For the most part, people have the same amount of melanocytes in their skin, differences in skin color come from the amount of melanin released. Is it possible to change to amount of melanin released, thereby changing skin color?

If you fill a plastic bottle with air that is at freezing temp and then seal it so no air could get out, could you make the bottle pop/explode simply by heating up the air inside? And if so, how much would you have to heat it up?
