If time does not exist to a photon by virtue of it traveling at the speed of light, then how is it that a photon can spend some of its life entangled, and then not entangled?

When viewing the structure of large objects at distance, like spiral galaxies for example, how do we account for the fact that the far end of the object is much closer than the near end, and thus time-distorted?
