Is it fine to use 2800 mAh EBL NI-MH batteries in a Lumintop Tool 2.0 - 3.0? because the battery that comes with it is nowhere near these numbers, or can I just use any AA - 14500 battery?

I got the Lumintop Tool AA 3.0, should I really worry about a protected cell vs unprotected cell? I heard that the protected cells have a lower current rating.
