If I gain 10 lbs of fat, lose it, and then gain 10 lbs again, am I "refilling" those same fat cells before creating new ones?

School "tradition" has me frustrated. Collect teddy bears for unfortunate families. Each kid hugs, then passes the stuffed bears down a line of all the kids in the school. Seems like they'll be passing sickness to each other too. Am I wrong?
