What would be the characteristics of a planet with a similar mass to Earth, but made up of a much larger percentage of water?

A "water world", being Earth-mass with over half of that mass being water around a rocky core, would probably produce exotic ices at extreme depths and other exotic effects. What would the transition from the surface to the extreme depths of such a planet be likely to include?
