I have read there are more trees today than there were 100 years ago. Does this mean deforestation is a manageable problem? Or do we lose some benefit with the destruction of "old growth" forests and jungles that cannot be replaced by replanting?

Do gravitational waves within a black hole travel from the event horizon towards singularity? And since light can't escape a black hole, does that mean these gravitational waves are moving towards singularity faster than light?
