Probably a dumb question, but what do you guys have in place to keep customers from backdooring you?

Double brokered one of our loads. The carrier they double brokered the load to was twice what we were paying - indicating they were never going to pay them. What I don't understand is that they have legitimate mileage and inspections? Also after he was busted he pretended to be a woman on the phone.
