Why is it that more than half of Korea have the family name “Kim”?

History of capoeira said that capoeira was used by african/brazilian slaves to free themselves from the Portuguese colonizers. Can you explain how this martial art was effective and strong enough to help in freeing the slaves from the Portuguese (who probably had weapons and other marial arts)?
