On this day: August 6, 1961. #Formula1 German Grand Prix, Nürburgring. It was a milestone for #F1: 100th race since the establishment of the World Championship in 1950. Stirling Moss got his last victory (btw, it was his last finish — 2 more races he participated ended with retirement).

The Race of Two Worlds (or Monzanapolis) was held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in 1957 and 1958. It was intended as an exhibition event, the main idea of which was to organize a competition between American USAC teams and European F1 teams. Today's random photo was taken during 1958 race.

On this day: August 7, 1926. The first Grand Prix of the Royal Automobile Club, and the first ever British Grand Prix. Of the nine cars that started, only three were able to finish. Fun fact: the first British GP was won by a French team.
