Are there ancient stories/accounts of realistic childbirth (water breaking, mucus plugs, defecation, tearing, etc.) or did ancient societies celebrate a glorified version of birth that left out the messy parts (much like popular culture now)?

In episode one of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (set in 1958), a band performs “Sixteen Tons,” but sings “woooah” as the second half of each line (instead of the original lyrics). Is there a historical/cultural reason for this?
