Orcs, ogres, and onis are all mythological monsters from around the world. They all look similar as well as have similar names. Were their names a result of translation or coincidence? Were their looks just a common human fear manifested in monsters from different regions?

How did China begin leading the world in manufacturing (“cheap” and otherwise)? Is this due to colonialism and the practice just continued or was it out of desire for trade and the respect and international relationships it comes with?
