When I hold two fingers together and look through the narrow slit between fingers I am able to see multiple dark bands in the space of the slit. I read once long ago that this demonstrates the wavelength of light. Is there any truth to this? If not, what causes those dark bands?

Does the Leidenfrost effect work better at lower temperatures? If you put a human being and a tray of cookies into the same oven, would the human die before the cookies were fully baked?

Why is distance to stars measured in light years and not petameters? Shouldn't the metric system be used for everything scientific?
